B-side
» Been long waits between drinks on the site. I've got plenty to talk about so i'll be bloging/posting/unloading/uploading more often. Above is an edit I cut to the soothing sounds of the didgeridoo. I'm not the biggest fun of scrap edits, like "check this out, it's the stuff that wasn't good enough to make an edit out of but I still made an edit out of it".
Truth is I liked these clips to begin with but they just did'nt fit into to the timeline of the final cut. The first wave I tried a loop, felt like I was heading in the right direction, trick is to not make them look too reverse air-ish. ds.

Novocastrian
» Wish I could of got this session on film to relive it until next time it might break again. Thanks to Hayden Collier for sending me some shots through, the only guy on the wall that braved through the hard rain. Man I love this wave! dall
Arica Chat
» Almost feels like a year ago that I was in Chile now after a never ending south swell at home that's barely let me come up for air. Offshore everyday of July until today! That's unbelievable. Makes me realise how good Newcastle is for bodyboarding on a world scale even, seeing plenty of action which has been more than enough prepare for the double contest trip coming up next month. So anyway the above few minutes is me running through what I thought of the Arica contest this year.

Box Beach Pro Early Rounds
» So the waves were a little moody when the day came about, but in comparison to the days either side though, this could be seen a miracle. Low tide provided the competitors the best waves of the day, highlighted by Wilso's reverse bash in the early. The comp was run and won a week ago now, so the highlights packages were a little late but you can blame that on the first timers behind the scenes, namely me. Mitch Lees with the help of tour director Tezza put in a huge effort in a small amount of time to bring the Aus Tour to the bay.
From all report everyone involved had a mad time and with talk of bigger and better hopefully the little contest that could- can become a fixture in the Australian bodyboarding circuit in the year to come.

NSW Tips
» The clip above was organised by tourism NSW. The deal is they drag along a recognised Australian blogger to all these really boring places and document the weekend into a 2-minute viral. It feel for Larry here, you can tell he's really earning his keep having to show up at a brewery and go skydiving, as if he had nothing else better to do. Thanks to the guys, I hope Larry enjoyed the Bay area on an unseasonably perfect day.

Burton Toyota Box Beach Pro
» Well, after months of planning and years of wondering what if, the Burton Toyota Box Beach Pro is now locked in to the IBAA calendar as the 4th stop of the Australian tour. One thing I've learnt while helping get this contest off the ground is that event management is no easy task, especially trying to build an event like this from scratch. Local hell raiser and accommodating elder of the Bay, Mitch Lees has had a big hand in making Boxy a highlight of the 2011 IBAA tour, He had this to say about the up coming event, "Boxy is the hub of bodyboarding in the Bay area, many shredders have been born and bread at it's converging lines of swell. From the 90s' grunge days when the Phillips brothers owned the peak to the rise of Ryan Minchington during the start of the ARS era, right through to a young duo in Tahnee Sams and Allan Chegwidden holding it down in the new age of tech. Now we're hoping to open up this same talent pool for the Australian tour to recognise."
A new name that might not of been heard in bodyboarding circles is the inclusion of Burton Toyota as naming rights sponsor. Being the most successful Toyota dealership in the region and already backing a large stand-up event in neighbouring Newcastle, Burton Toyota understands the importance of surfing events such as this taking place in the local area. We're happy to have them on board and hope that the Box Beach Pro becomes a staple event on the IBAA Australian tour for year's to come.
The dates run from the 24th right through to the 26th, giving the event a 3 day window to run the 2 days of competition. Entries need to be in now; you can download the forms here and follow the Facebook page here for on going information and prize announcements.
Look forward to seeing you all there in a few weeks time. Dall

Chile and Back
» I'm still dealing with some hectic jetlag after my return from Chile a few days ago. Third stop of the tour complete, El Gringo again showing the world and the world's best why it's such an amazing place to stage a professional bodyboarding event. Almost as much a test of self as it is a competition against others. Tamega displaying a brand of riding that had every one of the competitors on their feet, which at the end of the day won it for him.
I probably said this last year but El Gringo is a flaming amazing wave, two weeks in Arica can be as exhausting as two months surfing anywhere else, and your likely to find a wave that would top anything you could find anywhere else.
I finished up in 5th spot, still chippin' away. Thanks to my friends who followed in front of computer screens at 2am at home, again the support I get from you guys is dope. Photo attached is a frame grab Todd Barns shot, one of those waves that might continue replaying in my mind until next year. Forward airs are fun as shit. Chow.

» Few moments I exchanged with Manny in the 'Caravan of Courage' during the Box event in WA last month. If you get the chance check out Tamega's one, hilarious. dall

Jumbo 4Play Banner
» I ran into the fellas from Port Stephens Inverted the other day, they'd just had this banner sent in from 4Play to pin up on the wall of the new store. Funnily enough the shot was taken at Boxy and were I'm posing with it there in the Box car park. If your in the Bay any time soon check out the new Inverted shop next to maccas in Salamander and grab a new season 4play model which should be hitting showroom floors in the coming weeks. Plug, plug. Dall.

Serious Comp Face
» Box comp went down in WA the past week. It had been labelled alot of things during the 7-day waiting period; the Gas Bay pro and a logistical nightmare are a couple that come to mind, but at the end of the day round two of the IBA world tour ended with some amazing heat battles, great conditions and one happy local. I ended placing 5th after bowing out in the quarters to Hardy, needless to say I was shocked when I arrived to see close out sets rolling through the middle of the bay, which really reinforces the fact that you have to be prepared for anything on this tour. Congrats to Big Balls on his home town win, I can only imagine how good that would of felt taking first place honors at the break he grew up surfing, inspiring stuff. Chile is only around the corner. My tickets are booked, Looking forward to hitting some grande El Gringo ramps! check out the new facebook page here also. I dont forget to press the like button that took my halve a day to install on the top left of screen. Peace, Dall.

» I'm very happy to announce that I've just resigned with two of my extremely supportive current sponsors. Firstly Dunes wetsuits, they have kept me warm in the past and have never failed to impress, my DS1 suits will be on the rack this coming winter so be sure to try one on before you head out in the brisk winter cold. A big thanks to Greg at Dunes for being on top of a great team of riders that I'm proud to be apart of. Secondly, Inverted Bodyboard Stores ran off a fresh contract that I just recently signed. Their doing great things this year with online films and such, looking forward to working closely with them to release something in the coming months. Inverteds' re-vamped website looks to be up and running, it's well worth a look with a very detailed team rider section covering their pro and amateur teams. check out the site here. Two posts in one day! This is unheard of. dall

March Dope
» March is always an exciting month. A push of new autumn swells from the east plays a big part in that excitement, Sherwood took time out from his busy schedule to capture the action from his end. He's also in the motions of making a film titled Tales of a dream, check out the blog here. s-later.

A Kid Called Cam
» Cameron Mccullough is a local Nelson Bay resident that takes photos from time to time. He has a cool blog where he posts alot of the photos he takes. It can be viewed here. Pictured above is my good mate Matt Palmer, it was great to share some amazing conditions with the boys the last few days, even better seeing them above the lip. dall

First Stop Forth Place
» The first stop of the tour ended up being the most highly viewed contest in the sports history. It's pretty bizarre to hear friends at home write to you saying they won 50 bucks on one of your heats and another saying he watch the finals in the comfort of the local pub with a freshly pour schooner. The IBA broadcasting motions have begun which meant the only thing between the competitors at Pipe and a keen bodyboarder at home was a remote and a TV.
I pulled off my first Pipe final placing, a goal that I've day dreamt about for some time now. A big congrats goes to Jeff for pulling off the third win at his local, he's an inspiration to every bodyboarder on the planet, he really is. Another shout out goes to Riggaz and Jarod, they put on amazing show on Tuesday also.
1 of 8 down, I'm stoked with the opening result, thanks to my girl Chelsea, family & Friends in particular all my sponsors who've got my back as always. Next up is the Box in April, let's see what this stop has in stall! Aloha, Dall.

Another Start
» A perfect February day to the beginning what I think could be PSBC's 8th year as the best dam bodyboard club in the world. The boys were treated to 2ft perfect little grinders, the A's came out early with Curtis taking home first place points, then Scott made his comeback known with a good display of combination surfing in the AA division. Tahnee Sams was looking strong throughout the day in the man-on-man format and quickly disposed of WA import Davis Blackwell in the final. Congrats T-Bone!
Big thanks to all that came down, there'll be plenty of hype up for round two, so any new members please check out the PSBC facebook page and get the info! Dall

Map of Tassie
» Every crew has them, short video's that consist of just the mates you surf with everyday. Most of the time they were only interesting to the people who were in them, unless in this case you're a group of Tasmanians that enjoy some of the most amazing waves in Australia throughout the year. This clip stuck a chord with me, as I know how cool it is to make films with your mates. Looking forward to the coming episodes!

New Season's Rubber
» With winter near approaching (using the term in the retail sense), the free thinkers at Dunes are hard at work getting suits designed and sampled ready for you all to keep warm once the mercury drops. My DS1 suit makes it into it's second year with a new range of colour ways. In this case less is more, a front zip 2x2 sealed suit all black with black logo detail. Will be in stores soon so ask your local bodyboard retailer what's up with the new dunes range.

The New Home of the IBA
» The first step of the new look IBA world tour has got underway with their new site relaunching at the beginning of 2011. There is a fair bit to get through on there with rider profiles and a breakdown of how the top 24 will be competing for this year's title. So if you've got the time get over to ibaworldtour.com and see what's in stall!

PSBC End of Year 2 0 1 0
» The comp that ended PSBC for 2010 turned out to be one of the best comp's we've ran all year. The waves were terrible the sun didn't show but the retro concept proved to be a winner, which went to show that it's really the people that make our club what it is. LeBoogie posted on their website a story I wrote and some pics from the day, the mag has also announced today that they will be supporting PSBC in the New Year which is rad as shit. The day ended at the new Inverted Bodyboard Store in Nelson Bay for the presentation which had Alan Chegg and Tahnee Sams biting their nails waiting on the end of year results, it was Tahnee who took the honours in a year long neck and neck battle with Alan. Shout outs to our supporting sponsors 4play and Inverted, these companies really pull their weight in grass roots bodyboarding, which is a massive help to inspiring young riders to make the most of bodyboarding. Last of all the biggest thanks goes to all the guys that made it to the comps this year, let's do it all again next year!

Riptide and the Top 24
» It's now the 14th of December, which means I haven't updated in ages, but alas I'm back with more interesting little tid-bits about my life on a bodyboard. Last week was a big week in terms of news in my corner.
Firstly, pulling off a Riptide cover at my local break, I can't describe how exciting it was seeing my favourite wave on the cover of the magazine I grew up reading, let alone being the guy riding it. My hat goes off again to Rod Owen, the blokes a genius and without he's itchy trigger finger and photographic skills it couldn't of happened. We've now managed to pull of two amazing shots at Boxy from 3 attempts this year; one being the cover and the other the unbelievable water shot in the recent 4play advert, I can't imagine what we could pull off next. The invert-to-air rev was captured on the day following Melbourne Cup and I can honestly say that it was one of the best days I've seen boxy break, which is comforting as it seems when you get older the local breaks seem to never pump as much as it 'used to'. If you haven't yet grabbed a copy do so, if not for the cover buy it for the in depth article covering next year's newly planned IBA GSS tour.
Did somebody mention segway? It just so happens that I qualified for the exclusive top 24 for said tour last week with my 7th place finish at pumping El Confiltal. I can give a warning to anyone reading now that it's not safe waiting to qualify for anything in life at the last moment as it can cause a degree of stress, haha. Fortunately I worked my way through to the semi's moving from 28th position up to 24th, just enough to earn my place in the competitors dream tour due to start at Pipeline in Feb 2011.
Huge thanks to my girl Chelsea, my family, friends and sponsors for all their amazing support this past 12 months. It's been an amazing end to 2010 and looking forward to what 2011 has in stall.
